Earth Federation's FGF Series

The Federation’s FGF-series

The Federation Guardian Fighter (FGF) machines are the newest mass-production Bipedal Combat Vehicles deployed. Their frames sturdy and many of their critical systems are compacted and reinforced. This increase to durability does come at the cost of customization and increased repair time. So far, the Federal Forces have deployed two BCVs in the FGF series, the land based FGF-95 Musketeer and the spaceborn FGF-708 Osprey.

FGF-95 Musketeer
Nickname: Khakis
Original Manufacturer: Earth Federation Development Company
Operators: Earth Federal Forces, RDA Militias
Role: General Superiority Unit
Weight Class: Medium
Standard Weapons: 1x Long Rifle, 1x Combat Knife

A replacement for the EFF’s UN-05 Longbow Eta, the FGF-Musketeer is a powerful medium range BCV comparable to the BX-08[G] Strife Ground Type. It is typically more durable than a Strife, but lacks the customization options. First deployed in AE 21, the BCV made waves with its unique design. It’s primary camera was mounted on rails in the head unit. This gives it unmatched visual range allowing it to see 270 degrees around it. It does have a blind spot behind its gun arm, which is difficult to capitalize on.

FGF-100 Janissary
Nickname: Greys
Original Manufacturer: Earth Federation Development Company
Operators: Earth Federal Forces
Weight Class: Medium
Standard Weapons: 1x Custom Assault Rifle, 2x Combat Knife, 1x Short Blade, 1x Combat Shield
Special Equipment: Camouflage Cloak, High Specs, Khopesh Targeting Computer

As the war against the United Nations began to turn in favor of the Remnant Forces, the Federal Forces sought an answer to the UN-17 Longbow Tau, which despite limited numbers had decimated their forces. The Janissary is designed for commando units in order to remove high priority targets. In this role, it is equipped with the Khopesh targeting computer, which provides targeting information to nearby allies. Also, most models are equipped with camouflage cloaks to blend into the combat zone. The Janissary is primarily used by the 13th Special Corps to engage high priority targets, such as command units, custom machines, and hard targets, such as command posts.

FGF-708 Osprey
Nickname: crows
Original Manufactuerer: Bastille Colony Company
Operators: Earth Federal Forces
Role: High speed attack unit
Weight Class: Heavy
Standard Weapons: 2x CIWS, 1x Phase Carbine, 1x Phase Knuckle

The Osprey is the first mass-produced transformable BCV, and the second overall transforming BCV. Designed in space by the Federation’s Bastille Colony Company as a counter to the FCL’s superior numbers and more advanced warships. The Osprey can switch between two modes, Arrow mode, named for the arrow-head shape of the frame. In this mode it is only capable of using the CIWS. However, in Bipedal mode, it can use its Phase Weapons, the Carbine and the Knuckle.

Despite having energy weapons and high performance, it does suffer several drawbacks. The Osprey’s are among the least durable BCVs manufactured. The transformation system is easily damaged and its large power core is unstable.

FGF-720 Sinmara
Original Manufacturer: Clovis Compact
Operators: Earth Federal Forces
Role: Close Range Assault Unit
Weight Class: Medium
Standard Weapons: 1x Phase Zweihander, 1 N-CIWS
Special Systems: Thrall System, Banshee’s Wail

Created in violation of the Dublin Accords, the FGF-720 Sinmara is a N-Frame based off the WA-X555 Nosferatu and WA-X505 Banshee. A close combat unit designed to be supported by and enhance nearby UNITy produced BCVs. The Sinmara’s primary weapon is a massive two handed Phase Sword called Zweihander.

Like its predecessors, it relies on Banshee Clones to serve as pilots. In the weeks leading up to Operation: Boomerang, the UN Inspectors have fought increasing numbers in their push to remove the Federation from Egypt.

FGF-108 Immolator

Original Manufacturer: Earth Federation Development Company
Operators: Earth Federal Forces, 13th Autonomous Corps
Role: Close Range Assault Unit
Weight Class: Heavy
Standard Weapons: 1x Plasma Thrower, 1 Twin CIWS

Built using the same basic framework as the FGF-95 Musketeer, the Immolator takes its name for its deadly plasma thrower. Though powerful in close combat, it’s limited range prevents it from being deployed wide-scale. It has been adapted by some specialist units for air drops, ambushes, and arboreal combat theaters.

The development of the Immolator has perplexed Colonial and Republic forces. The existence of mass produced phase weapons leaves the deployment of the rather crudely designed Plamsa Thrower as a mystery. Despite being deployed by the Federation, the Phase Carbine and Plasma Thower share no similar design features, leading to wild rumors and speculation.

FGF-470 Sturmreise

Original Manufacturer: Earth Federation Development Company
Operators: Earth Federal Forces, 13th Autonomous Corps
Role: Artillery Super-prototype
Weight Class: Super-Heavy
Standard Weapons: 2x Artillery Cannons, 2x Twin Chain Cannon

Designed by the EFDC as an answer to the powerful EZM Yojimbo, the Sturmreise (German for storm giant) is the second largest BCV ever designed (second only the the aforementioned Yojimbo) and requires a three man crew to operate. Though primarily designed to attack enemy ships and fortifications, it is capable of dispatching BCVs with ease.

The first Sturmreise was deployed against the Colonial Navy during Operation Boomerang. Despite inflicting heavy casualties on the Navy’s dropships, the first Sturmreise was destroyed by Mongoose Company.
